How do I apply for a merchant account?
You can fill out the application by fax or over the phone, then call our toll-free number, 866-643-8500 option 1, and ask for a sales representative. It takes about 15 minutes for the two of you to complete the application.

Once I apply, how long before I can start processing credit card transactions?
After the application is completed, it is usually only 24-72 hours before a merchant is processing transactions, depending on equipment options.

Do I need to open a special bank account?
No. If your business account allows Automated Clearing House (ACH) transactions for both debits and credits, it will work fine. If you are a Sole Proprietor, your bank may allow you to use a personal checking account. If you do need to open a business checking account, we can help you open an account.

How does money get into my bank account, and how long does it take?
Money is deposited into your account via the ACH process. In most cases it will be transferred to your bank within 48-72 hours. Banks vary as to the time of day your deposit will be posted to your account.

If I already have a terminal, do I need to buy a new one?
Not necessarily. Often we can program your existing piece of equipment, but if you do need a terminal, we will make sure you get one suited to the way you do business at a low lease payment or a great price.

Can I process credit cards over the Internet?
Yes. You can use the Internet to process credit card transactions even if you do not have a fully integrated website.

What if I need help?
Merchants Bankcard Systems of America has a toll-free customer support line to answer all of your questions. You can reach technical support 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

What if my machine breaks?
Most of the time the technical issues with terminals that come through the help desk can be handled over the phone. If your machine is actually not able to function and needs to be replaced, Merchants Bankcard Systems of America offers its merchants several choices in Benefits Packages that have a lifetime equipment replacement policy.

Can I see my merchant account activity on-line?
Yes. Merchants Bankcard Systems of America offers an interactive website called www.mbsoa.com, which allows you to see all of your batches and transactions about 24 hours after they have been processed.
